Clementine was born when we least expected it: on her dad’s birthday. Six weeks early, but not a moment too soon, is how I like to put it, and she sure put up a feisty fight to arrive exactly when she wanted to despite the doctors’ efforts to put my labor off or slow it down for four very long days.
And then somehow, “in the blink of an eye,” we found ourselves celebrating her second birthday. 730 measurable days of Clementine’s immeasurable spunk, passion, vibrancy, and joy wrapping us around her chubby, stubby fingers.
We followed “birthday rules” in our house that day: Grain-free Swedish Pancakes for their birthday breakfast, and any dinner and dessert the birthday bears want! Papa Bear and Miss Clemenade picked homemade gluten-free lasagna and grain-free Coconut Carrot Cake.
(GUYS… we had so many other pictures from this day, but our memory card broke before I transferred them over to the computer! I’m crushed, but am going ahead with the feature anyways as so many people who saw these photos on our Instagram feed have asked me about a blog post.)
We have decided to keep gifts simple this year, but found this cool wooden camera on Amazon for Clementine. She had been walking around pretending to take pictures using everything from key chains to nail files, so we figured it was time to get her a pretend “real” one. Now she walks around saying, “Smile for the pick-cho, guys!!” It’s really cute.
