Essential oils have become one of the top “go-tos” in our home. When used properly, their power can aid in the treatment of illness or pain, have calming or stimulating effects, lift moods, level hormones, aid breathing, disinfect and cleanse, detoxify, and just plain smell good!
Today I’ve included a recipe for beating Spring Allergies with an essential oil antihistamine, and am also excited to introduce you to Krista Harris, a Pennsylvania-based nursing student, wife, and mom of two, who has taken control of her own chronic health issues by using oils. In addition to sharing her story, Krista is giving away an allergy-busting essential oils trio kit!
The use of essential oils has changed my health and it can change yours too. I have had chronic sinus infections almost my whole life. I live in Pennsylvania (yes, by the Amish, they are some of my neighbors) where the seasons, pollen, and temperatures change a lot. My sinus infections were so bad I would throw up just from the pain and drainage. I had sinus surgery; it was awful and extremely painful. It worked for the first year and then I was back to getting sinus infections once a month consistently. I was on antibiotics which, of course, would wipe out the good bacteria & cause other issues, if you get my drift.
This past summer was the worst. I had a sinus infection consistently and nothing would get rid of it. I was on steroids and strong antibiotics for months at a time. I started seeing an Allergy & Asthma doctor because I also have asthma, but wanted to get help with these sinus issues. My face would be so swollen; I looked like a Mack truck hit me.
I was fed up and remembered that I had some essential oils I had gotten when I was making my husband’s beard oil. I tried using them and nothing happened. I felt so discouraged. The FDA doesn’t regulate claims like “pure” or “therapeutic,” on essential oils, so it was difficult for me to know which oils to buy or what was really in them. But then I remembered my friend had doTERRA oils (which are known for their purity), so I tried hers. She told me they would help and I thought, “yeah right, that’s what everyone says.”
I started the protocol consistently because I was so determined and, drum roll please… I haven’t had a sinus infection for 6 months which is how long I have been using pure oils. When I had my followup appointment with my doctor, she was so amazed at my progress and intrigued with what I did that now she is getting ready to start using essential oils too.
Pure essential oils are powerful and have been around for a long, long time. It’s time that we know what we are putting into our bodies and take control of our health. I have always wanted to learn more ways to take care of my family naturally but never had the time or energy to invest in learning. I thought it would be easier to go right to the doctors for any and everything. I was wrong; it is not as hard as I thought!
If anyone has any questions of wants to learn more about how they can change your health, please contact me. I love learning and teaching people all about them. I’m passionate about oils because they have helped my family out so much. You can contact me through email at firstname.lastname@example.org or through my cell 717-873-4437.
