Two weeks ago today was Valentine’s Day, but we don’t call it that in our home. Papa Bear has always had this thing against “obligatory romance,” and for the record, he is ridiculously thoughtful and romantic year round, so I really have no problem passing up the flowers and crowded restaurants that surely would have awaited me.
On the other hand, we now have two stunning young girls in our home who one day may be hoping for their own Prince Charming to celebrate them. That thought changed everything for us, and Papa Bear has beaten them to the punch. February 14th will forevermore be known as Father-Daughter Love Day in our home!
This year Papa Bear took the girls to celebrate their special day at Grand Park in downtown LA. Its an amazing spot with a gigantic splash pad that we all had fun running around in (hence the water babe picture below). For that portion of the day, Clementine sported a hand-me-down leotard and Target dollar bin glasses in the water.
Afterward, the two vixens changed into vintage dresses and fancy-shmancy beads for their special date with Daddy. There was quite a bit of gold, posey pink, and pearly neutrals going on (Clementine got to pick out the necklaces).
Clementine (17 mos) had just started asking for coffee in the days before this trip. At home that just means breast milk in a espresso mug, but since there was a Starbucks right in the park, we decided to order her a steamed cup of their newly launched coconut milk. (I have since found out that it doesn’t actually contain coconut milk, so I will no longer be ordering it…)
I’m glad the three of them let me join in on their date!
